Challenge. Stanford University's Affiliates Program promotes a synergistic relationship between the Department of Electrical Engineering at Stanford and Bay Area technology companies. However, this concept needed to be sold to the business community.
Solution. I wanted to start the brochure by focusing on the exceedingly high level of technology at Stanford. With a little research I uncovered a stunning fact. Using a scanned electron beam, researchers at Stanford were able to write the opening page of A Tale of Two Cities in characters so small that the contents of the entire Stanford Engineering Library could be written on one quarter of a standard 8 1/4 x 11-inch sheet. It made a compelling opening to the 6-page brochure.
