THERE'S NO STOPPING US NOW!

It's been like this from day one.

We said we were going to make ex-junkies into secretaries and salesmen, lawyers and doctors.

We did it.

We said we were going to headquarter in a Pacific Heights mansion, rather than a storefront.

We did it.

We said we were going to open a restaurant on Union Street, send our ex- cons through college and run a multimillion dollar nationwide organization without government handouts or client fees.

We did those things and more.

At every step of the way the skeptics said we were reaching too far. Totally unrealistic. Dreamers out of touch with reality

Wait til they hear our current plans.

Delancey Street Foundation is going to transform an entire city block into its own $25 million mixed use project. The development will be located in downtown San Francisco, right on the Embarcadero between First and Brannan.

Picture a four-story, tree-lined complex with street-level shopping and service businesses. A public restaurant as large as the Sheraton's Garden Court. A community that serves the needs of the general public as well as the rehabilitative needs of its residents.

Our people will live in three stories of residential units that overlook a Mediterranean-style courtyard. Off this courtyard will be a vast array of educational and recreational facilities. There won't be anything like it in the country.

A pipe dream?

The city has already committed the land. We have promises of substantial donations in building materials and professional talent. And in true Delancey fashion, we'll provide a good part of the labor ourselves.

Delancey Street is living proof that to bring about major change you don't have to be rich or privileged or influential. You simply have to be like us: ordinary people with extraordinary vision.

And have a drive that won't quit.

To support the unique rehabilitation program that makes it happen, send your donation to the Delancey Street Building Project, 2563 Divisadero Street, San Francisco, CA 94115, (415) 563-5326.
